We are the Fletcher family – Elaine (Mum) Mike (Dad) Samuel (twin1) and Thomas (twins 2) and Hermoine the campervan. The numerical order of the twins is purely chronological – Samuel was born one minute before Thomas.
We live in Pontypool in South Wales Mum and Dad are both Civil Servants although Dad is partially retired now. Mum is 55, Dad is 61 and the boys are eight so we are quite unusual in that mum and dad are quite old to have young children. This brings its own challenges and joys which is covered in our post “What is it like being older parents?”. We hope to cover much more on this topic and meet some like-minded parents as well as keeping up to date with the latest news.
We briefly mentioned our campervan Hermoine and she is our new family member named due to the boy’s love of Harry Potter. Prior to the boys, mum and dad used to holiday in places like India and the Far East but the appearance of the boys meant that our holidays changed into camping holidays and we spent many years in our beloved Berghaus inflatable tent.
We loved camping and being next to nature although the tent was a little too close to the elements and after some extremely wet holidays we dreamed of having a campervan – somewhere which was like camping but we were able to close the door.
After an extremely long search, we finally found Hermoine who is a 2014 Renault Trafic with a poptop roof. She also has a brand new registration number: TW57 ERS.
